Greyline Instruments was incorporated in 1986 to develop, manufacture
and market industrial flow and level monitoring instruments.
Flow and level instruments utilize non-contacting, ultrasonic
sensors. Products include Doppler and Transit Time flow meters (with
sensors that strap onto the outside of a pipe) and open channel
flow monitors for water and wastewater flow through flumes, weirs,
open pipes and channels. These display, totalize, control and transmit
flow rate of liquids. Models are also available for semi-permanent
installation with portable units for flow troubleshooting and spot
checks.
Level instruments measure liquid level with a non-contacting ultrasonic
sensor. Models are available for local display and control applications,
transmitters for connection to a PLC or process computer and pump
controllers and multiple transmitters for tank farm systems. Greyline's
own data logging software is also available for both level and flow
instruments.
Greyline users are in municipal water and wastewater treatment
and in varied industries including chemicals, mining, petroleum,
pulp and paper, textiles and food processing. Key advantages are:
non-contacting sensors, ease of installation, simple programming
and reliable operation.

Smar was founded in 1974 by Mr. Mauro Sponchiado and Mr. Jose Martinussi
who took the initials of their names to form the company's name.
The first area of the company's business was service to steam turbines
in sugar refineries near Brazil.
Smar added in-house electronics expertise when electronic speed
regulators were introduced for steam turbines in 1978. It soon developed
electronic controls for sugar cane cutters and crushers. From there
Smar developed a line of process control instruments for all industries.
Smar surprised the instrumentation elite in 1991 by unveiling the
LD301 pressure transmitter that incorporated HART protocol, PID
control and flow integration all in one package. In 1998 Smar introduced
its smart pressure and temperature transmitters to the world at
the ISA show in Houston.
Currently, products are designed at the company's headquarters
in Brazil and at two locations in the USA.
